Pedagogical implications of using search engines like altavista

Basically there are three advantages of using search engines in language classroom:
1. By guiding students to search information through internet search engines, teachers can help develop students' searching skill, which is a quite important skill in terms of gaining access to useful information in students' academic life
2. By asking students to search for authentic data online, students can find news and facts about what they want to know, which helps train students for the real world
3. The searching acitvity is quite personalised because students are given the choice to search whatever they are interested in. For example, the American pop star they like. In this way, students will be motivated in classroom acitvity and they have more interest during the task.
